Hi Friends, I’ve gotten the options narrowed down on the possible designs for this Winter’s boat build. Basically there are two different directions to go:
Very simple (more of a quick and dirty with minimal amount of time, materials and character (something like this http://www.instantboats.com/teal.htm I should add that ‘Simple’ does not mean un-attractive; just less complicated 🙂

The simple design would entail roughly 60 hours of work and cost under $1k and the more elaborate build would be closer to 200 hours and around $1700 depending on level of finish…
Both designs have an option for sail and rowing.

First off, enjoy watching your videos. Likely because you’re logical with a warped twist I can relate to. Thanks.
Which boat to build? Guessing it depends on what you want and want it for. It’s your money and time.
Personally I like the first boat listed. As you mentioned, more time and money. But, likely have end result that you and someone else will enjoy longer both by building and by using. But, on other hand, both are sailers? So, both are good to go.
On the teak tube you built? (Nice job.) A little short and stout for mast or boom. A bit thin to cut in half and use as bongo drums. Could be telescope or Kaleidoscope with a bit more work, but may work nicer as a helm wheel pedestal or inside tiller mount pedestal? Other thought, likely not as practical or perhaps as useful, but may be more fun, would be to spiral cut tube into a wooden slinky? Kidding. Maybe? Good luck on that one.
